It looks like the simplest and the fastest way to determine the level of muscular strength and skeletal health in a middle-aged patient may be the sitting-rising test, where patient has to sit down on the floor and then get up with as little assistance as possible. Some can get up without any support whatsoever, some may use a hand to push up, some need to get on their knees, while others may require assistance from another person.
The sitting-rising test score is a significant predictor of life expectancy. Naturally the stronger and healthier the body – the more active and able the person is, and mobility, strength, flexibility as well as movement are crucial to maintain as we age:
